Society represent Countless Individuals and Families whom creates Society.
Without An Individuals and Families there could not be Societies. That simple fact tell us, we are the Society, me & you as countless families. 
We can look at our Society in two ways:
Is Society (Others, as we think about it) make decision for our lives, me & you. 
Or, we, me & you have the power to make a differences for our lives in the society.
Why is that, living in a country with constitution that have:
Democracy
Freedom
Justice for all
And not doing anything about it, because, are giving to us, or, we have to earn it by practicing it in our lives. To make sure our Basic needs, Desires and Purpose are met. Understanding this concept will simplify our Social structures. What ever we do for an Individuals and Family, we are doing it for our Society. 
The question is this, What do we expect from Society, when we do not do much for the Society.

What we have today is driven from the decision of our forefathers—of all man’s history—today is part of that past, and we have the duty to make it a good chapter. Who has the responsibility? We … the people… individuals face the question of survival and satisfaction of needs. These all, by nature, gave birth to the Communities, Cities, and Nations.The desires and anxieties to possess more of the better things drove man to seek power.
Competition for power continues. The true super-power is the nation which cares for and identifies with the needs and desires of all people. This will eventually penetrate the wasted influence of that nation everywhere while offering it greater power, Care.  
Society are us, Individuals, Families and Communities living in the Cities as a Nation. Who is the caretaker of our Society? Do we care about our Society? If yes, how?
"The ills from which society are suffering are not going to be cured by political action; the remedy and solutions lay in the restoration of right relations between human being." Then, ordinary people can do extraordinary together".
As a society we should celebrate: For getting along and achieving our common goal for better life on earth, for peace, harmony, prosperity and most of all being secure. Because, Insecurity is mother of greed.
Security is something that we all need. Me & You as member of Society have to make sure that all of us:
Are leaving in the safe and secure environment in our neighborhood, work place and every were we go.
Are living Physically, Mentally and Spiritually Healthy.
when we get old , we will be taking care of.  
The question is, if you like that kind of society, what would you do for it?
